Cody Richard Waterman was a friend to everyone. He was born and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts, and spent his entire life there while attending the Amherst public schools. In 2011, Cody graduated from Amherst Regional High School. He was voted Most Spirited in his senior class and was a defensive player (#21) on the Varsity Lacrosse team.

Cody was a man of many talents. He had an incredible passion for writing. He merged words beautifully, his writing demonstrating profound creativity, passion, pain and love. Through his gift for writing he brought laughter to everyone around him, and was best known for his numerous social commentary pieces, ranging from critiques of Halloween costumes to propaganda pieces which incited class feuds.

Cody leaves a legacy behind him. He touched the lives of everyone who got to know him, the gentle giant that he was. Cody brought fun and laughter with him wherever he went. He told many entertaining stories, some more inappropriate then others. He just enjoyed making people laugh. Cody was easy going, a free spirit, and also the most loyal and kindhearted friend. His unwavering friendship and support inspired so many to not only go for their dreams, but to exceed them. Leading by example, he demonstrated to his friends how to be open, honest, and most importantly- how to be yourself. His friends and his family meant the world to him. He was taken from those who loved him far too soon, but his spirit will live on forever.
